My mother is 92, in assisted living and receives her social security and VA aid and attendance. We are now out of money for her to continue to stay at the Assisted Living. My sister and I are willing to provide in home care for her at my sisters home. I know that we need to file a caregiver agreement with the VA. But my concern is that we are doing everything we can correctly in order not to loose her VA benefit that we so need to continue to care for her at home. Need to know who we can talk to regarding appropriate unreimbursed medical expenses or a list of those expenses and how to include that in the contract etc... Any words of advice would be awesome.

We have care in the home and receive A&A. We had it for dad then when he passed it ended. Then we reapplied for mom, it took longer but we did get it. It seems like they have to spend more than what they bring in.

Maybe make your contract the exact amount that she brings in. One of you claim it and file taxes. If one of you doesn't work, do it and get the credit for soc sec and Medicare down the road. I think sometimes if we have a business approach to this it isn't to bad. Sub out the work when you need a break. Good luck

You need to talk to a VA representative. A&A was given because of her care at a AL. Having homecare may be a different thing.
