I don't know of any reason why she shouldn't sleep. The end of her life is coming, and if she can go in peace and without pain, it is a really good option.

Am I suppose to let her sleep as much as she wants?

Have you checked into hospice for your mom?

If she qualified they would be a valuable resource for you to understand exactly what is happening with your mom.

Does she have any heart issues? When my dad was retaining water, he would be sleeping all the time. So ruling out any medical issues would help you feel better and understand. This caregiving journey is made easier with knowledge.

Best of luck.

Yes. To be proactive check her skin often on her back, heels and sacral area & assist her in changing positions so she doesn’t develop pressure ulcers.
She is 96; let her sleep. At her age I would consider providing comfort care via Palliative Care or Hospice support.
Good luck!
