She shakes her fists in the air with frustration, hit things with her fists, forgets things easily and walks with small halting steps. In essence, she acts like a child.
I have noticed that a lack of engagement with the outside world, ( church, seniors, relatives, etc...) will make my 84 year old aunt more irritable at certain times of the day. Usually in my case before or around dinner time. so I avoid her at this time, and if I am around I will not engage, it is too easy, like a child they, regress to childlike tantrums because usually no one is around. It is for attention. fear and memory loss also play a role.
elderly parents sometime regress to childlike behavior during certain times of the day. this is especially true when they are no longer engaged in the outside world. just like a small child who is home with a parent all day, the elderly will make demands and demands. Many times failing memory and fear contribute as well. try and just listen and avoid engaging. it will pass. usually happens late afternoon, before dinner.
