What medications is she taking? Has there been a change recently, or introduction of a new medicine? CM makes good points; contact your mother's PCP or internist or other treating physician.

If your mother's had dementia for sometime but something recently caused her to sleep more, it should be medically investigated.

What sort of dementia?

In any case, always report changes to your mother's doctor. I won't speculate but there could be all kinds of important reasons - so call it in as soon as you can.
