Strong odors can come from what you eat or from meds. Asparagus makes urine odor particularly offensive. What type of odor? What color urine? Is she drinking fluids? Is she dehydrated? Need more info.

I have that issue myself regarding a strong odor when I don't drink enough water.... caffeine or eating a lot of chocolate can also cause a strong odor for me. This doesn't happen with everyone.... some will find other foods such as onions and garlic will do the same thing.

As a R.N., I am telling you that if there is a bad odor to the urine, the patient is dehydrated. You stated that there was a test for a UTI & it was not present. I do not understand what you mean by ," What does our man is her body shutting down" mean???
When a person is getting ready to die, they usually do not want any food or liquids. This is a natural & normal way for the body to shut down & there is no pain associated with it. There is peace & calm. This is how my dad died. God's speed.
