My mother is in a nursing home and only through the bills I receive for her drug costs did I see Risperdol. I believe the government is really concerned such drugs are over used. My mother has dementia and is not able to understand the effects. As POA should I have been informed and ask for permission?

Were you informed of when it was first prescribed and why? Do you have periodic care meetings at which her care is reviewed? As medical PoA, I have asked to be informed of any med changes that are proposed, I go over her meds and dosages at each meeting. Not sure what the regs in each state are.
