Find Care & Housing
Did the NH who had him for rehab approve him being sent back home? Did they know about the conditions there? You might want to talk to the social work people at that facility about what is going on. But as Shaking said, call APS, it sounds like they BOTH need help.

It seems to me that you and dad need to visit an elder care lawyer. Does mom have dementia? Could she be declared incompetent? Can the doctor or minister talk to her? Post back!

I'm caring for both, the profile only let's you choose one!
Mom is stubborn and won't do anything anyone wants her to do.
Yes, dad can sign, but since they have joint bank accounts, she must also sign the paperwork.
Mom will not let anyone be POA.
The home is not safe for dad. He is active person but needs to walk and exercise daily. He cannot get out of the house because mom refuses to let a ramp be built. The house is small and cluttered and he cannot walk around it safely with his walker, so he just sits with nothing to do and no where to go. If he were in AL he could walk the halls freely, and they have activities and exercise programs for him. He doesn't want to be at home. He just came home from nursing home 6 days ago and he's begging to go somewhere else to live, even if it is the hospital.

I'm a bit confused. Your profile states that you're caring for your mother. Is your father living in the home and are you caring for him as well?

I would also ask the same questions as Eyerishlass, as well as who determined/recommended that your father go into AL, and is this an otherwise agreed on decision except for your mother?

A little more information might help you to get more detailed responses.

Why won't your mom sign the papers?
Why can't your dad sign the papers?
Does someone have POA?
