Hello, my mother has early dementia and we discovered that she spent $28,000 on skin care/treatments. We tried to get her to return the product (store agreed to return, but needs her approval) and she is very angry, combative and does not want to return. We have a POA, but we are not on her accounts yet. Looking for advise. ;o(

If you bring the product back with the receipt (hopefully) and the credit card, if it was charged, it would seem they would need to take it back. They must have had an inkling that maybe this older lady was not 100% in charge of her faculties. Or maybe they were too blinded by $$$. So sad.

Good luck.

cut up her credit cards, atm cards, take her checks away. Is anyone else on the accounts = joint ascounts? put as little money into that account as possible, close and cancel all her credit cards now. Are you sure it was $28,000? Not $2,800? Big difference.

If it was $28,000, shame on the company to not notice this was an awkward amount of dollars spent on cold cream... Geez.. $2,800 is bad enough. They should bend over backwards, and apologize to your mom and family, and graciously accept the unopened, not used merchandise back and very quickly, no matter who calls on behalf of your mom. And they should pay for the return postage. And give you a couple of sample packets... maybe it is worth $2,800.00 Doubt it.

I found charges on my mom's credit card. I closed one card, and the darn company, tracked mom's name, and charged it on her other card. I just ended up closing all her credit cards...She didn't need them..

I just wish people would stop preying on the elderly or anyone for that matter. It just sucks. tonight they found the man who was preying on women realtors at open houses. I hope he stays in prison for life.

I would advise you to seek an Elder Law Attorney. I had one when caregiver for Mom and the attorney was more help then I could have imagined.
