Hi morningsunshine

Try calling your Area Agency on Aging and asking for a needs assessment. Explain about your upcoming surgery and see what services might be available for your mom.

You have posted under Alzheimer's and Dementia, so you know that you are dealing with some of the most common symptoms of the disease, things about which you can do nothing. Do you have a question for the forum?

Is she living alone? As others stated, this is, unfortunately, pretty normal behavior for someone with dementia.

You can't expect her to remember anything. You can expect her to be angry. Until that phase hopefully passes.

Is she getting any in-home assistance?

You may want to read as much as you can about dementia so you will know what is typical and what to expect as her disease progresses.
