No you get off the bus. This is her trip and she cannot be allowed to manipulate others. If she needs anti depressant meds, get them.

Thanks Pam
I live 1200 miles away and this is the 2nd pity party.
1st she had a urinary tract infection and now she tripped over something and her arm is in a sling for a hairline fracture.
I know these things are more "intense" for the elderly but I my parents moved away from me 30 years ago not the other way around. I am not wealthy and can't fly there for things like these. I feel bad but I can't. She has a LARGE network of friend there and when I asked her about them she said- well let me just be honest and say it- I think they think you should be the one to take care of me.

OH MY, my MIL tries to lay this on her daughter. "Where were you when you were 60?" I asked MIL, and added "Oh that's right, you were in Florida" How quickly they forget.

Can you and mom agree to hire a geriatric care manager (using her funds)? This way, you'd be able to have an objective assessment of her needs on an ongoing basis. Just a thought. Otherwise, no, don't get on the bus.
