She doesn't have money to pay $4550. in out of pocket expense. Should we apply now for Medicaid ? If so what is the process? She is currently a resident in Arkell Hall Adult Home.

Also gather up all the bottles, prescription and non prescription and make appt with her dr to review. Have a frank discussion with him and ask which are absolutely necessary, are generics an option for some and all, ask what financial assistance there might be for all these prescriptions.

Maybe some are duplicates, some aren't needed anymore or can be used less frequently or different dose, etc.

This is his job. I did this once with my moms dr even though she had insurance as I felt there were way to many and some for the same thing (antidepressants for example).

Also talk to your local pharmacist or Walmart pharmacist to see what programs or options there are to help with this expense.

I think that would be a good idea to start the Medicaid application ASAP.
