Hello everyone, after submitting another request my mom was finally approved for long term care through Medi-cal which is the equivalent of Medicaid in other states. We are grateful as she is out of money. I do not know how to proceed on finding her a suitable place that takes this program. I have researched on the internet and have sent inquires be haven't had any response. My mother is also bedridden. How do I move her from one facility to another in this condition when I find another place? I aprreciate any and all responses I get from anyone on this wonderful site. Thank you in advance.

Have you contacted your county’s area agency on aging? They might be able to help you with a case worker and a list of places to try to find her a mediCal bed and suggestions on transport.

Hello Grandma1954,

My mom is in a private Board and Care in a private home. (AL).
They don't have a social worker or a Long Term care unit.

You mention in your profile that mom is in Assisted Living.
Does that facility have a place for her in Long Term Care unit? Ask the administration or the Social Worker if they can help find a place for her.
As far as moving her the facilities can arrange transportation you do not need to worry about that.
