My Mom has had depression all her life, Now that Dad passed in 2011. She sleeps all day till 3-4 pm. She says she is at peace. She has diabetes, and some arthritis in her back. ( I think for living in bed). Assisted Living does not try to encourage her, even though they are short staffed, it costs $59,000 per year. She is not kept clean, her room is dusty. Vermont does not have only a few Assisted Living places, this one is suppose to be the best........

@pamstegman What is Assisted 2 care include? I have already said something to the facility about her room. The answer is she does not want us in there cleaning as she is sleeping, Mom only gets up for supper so she pays $800.00 per month (included) for food. I have taken her night gowns and sheets home to wash and they say she will not get out of bed and they can not make her. Yes she is on medication for depression has never done a thing for her, Also her memory is not good, My mother is staying in # Cathedral Square Burlington Vt. (google it) where is your Mom staying?

Holey Smokes 59K? I'm glad I live in western NY. Mom's ALF is only $2750 a month. 33K a year with level 2 care. Ask Mom's MD if PT would help her. Meet with the head of wellness and discuss what they can do for her, including clean and dust.
