My mom is on hospice and I had to add additional nursing due to a fall.

An elder law attorney can help you navigate this phase of your mom's life/money but many people go it alone too.

Have you considered Medicaid? When seniors get to the point where it looks as if they might outlast their money many apply for Medicaid to pay for a nursing home.

There are also circumstances in which Medicaid will contribute to in-home care but it doesn't cover many hours.

Malynda, Medicaid is a different health care program then Medicare.

My I ask why your Mom is having Hospice Care?

Medicaid helps out when one is running out of money.   Call your State Medicaid office and see how quickly you can get Mom approved.   And ask what programs are available to help in your Mom's case.   Maybe Medicaid could sent in an Aide to help couple hours a day.

Medicaid can also have your Mom go to a nursing home where she would have around the clock care, and Medicaid would pay for it.   I know some grown children don't want their parent in a nursing home, but when one runs out of choices, be glad Medicaid is there.

A nursing home might be a good choice due to your Mom's weight, more nursing Staff to help shift her so she is not in one position all day long.

Thank you I will most definitely look into the possibilities you suggest. She is on hospice because I was told by the emergency room doctor and then her heart doctor that she is in final stages of congestive heart failure. At one point parametics told me to gather family and next day she was fine and mad that everyone was there it's a rollcoaster one day critical the next fine. I love the staff taking care of her but money and her safety is on my mind 24/7. Thanks again for input and I will check into your suggestions.
