She tells me in the mornings she has been up all night long. I am thinking of getting one of those "fit" bracelets that will track her sleep. She has Parkinson's so I don't know if it will work. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

I have thought of a baby monitor but I am afraid it would keep me up all night because she does toss and turn, turn lights off and on, etc.

Be careful with the Benadryl dosage. With some elders (my mom for example) it can cause dyskinesia, which are jerky movements. My mom's legs were going a mile a minute. Here's a study from Mass General that says Benedryl shouldn't be used as a sleep agent in the elderly, because, "There was a 70% increased risk of decline in cognitive function in the group that received diphenhydramine.": http://www2.massgeneral.org/pharmacy/Newsletters/2002/August%202002/benadryl.htm If they strip out that link, Google "benedryl + elderly + side effects"

Get the baby monitor, I have one and it's not as disturbing as you think even is she turns the light on /off. At least you will be able to know is she is actually having disrupted sleep patterns. I have one and use it as an intercom, very convenient. The monitors have saved me many steps.

The Parkinson's tremors will give you a false reading. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) relieves those tremors and may help her sleep as well. Try to keep her from napping during the day if you can. You could ask her MD to do a sleep study.
