Laura you don't do what makes you feel best you do what is best for your father or mother that has dementia. Telling them the "truth" is not what is best for someone that will not remember whatever it is you told them and will continue to ask over and over again. You do what is best for them. Not you. Stop thinking about yourself and do the right thing.

Your dad is 94 years old. Can he go to adult day care for some of the days? Get him distracted and socialize a bit? The Salvation Army has a great one in our area. Perhaps you can find out what is available in your area. I am sorry you are going through this. Distraction, don't tell him. It just hurts when he comes back around...

My Mom asks for her sister still.... It is hard. You can say the loved one is away visiting or "you will see her soon", Or, " she just stepped out, she will be back soon.: This is hard, and I know what you are going through.
