is this a good way to go to get an aide to stay with her? I'm trying to keep her in her home as long as possible. she the social worker said my mom doesn't need any medical services so she can't have an aide. she does have dementia and is homebound. any input on this please would help.

I don't understand either? Medicaid is for people who are low income.. If Mom doesn't qualify for medicaid and you want someone to come in the home to help her, then you'll have to private pay..

I don't understand the question. Are you saying you can get Medicaid if you pay for it? That makes no sense at all. Medicaid is basically welfare for medical expenses....you don't pay for it. Second source of my confusion...what would this aide do? Sit with her, housework, help her with ADLs, or what?

Aides in the home are ordered by the MD, not by the social worker. Talk to the MD. If she can dress, bathe and eat on her own, you might look into an adult day program. I'm surprised the SW didn't discuss that.
