My mom is 96 years old with dementia. She talks about everyone being sick and dying. She'll say very morbid things is this common?

She'll be watching tv and say did you see that girl she doesn't have legs, she sawed them off. She said Kelly Clarkson is dying and so is her baby. She also says everyone is incarcerated.

Is this a new thing that started all of a sudden? UTIs can cause a sudden change in mental status with no other symptoms. Get her checked.

Have you talked to her doctor about depression? It could be a good idea.
