My mom has the constipation phobia which I'm learning to deal with. But I have two questions. The phobia always strikes about 4 in the morning and she says very little about the constipation during the day. Only "you have to give me something I can't go" and then I say OK mom take your laxative tea this evening and usually that does the trick. Also she is prone to anxiety attacks and again 9 times out of 10 these attacks happen before noon time and then after she's had one of these attacks they wear off and she's fine. Why are these issues time related? Thank you.

WillyB, when your Mom has breakfast, does she have a snack half way through the morning? If not, it could be blood sugar drop that can make one feel panic. Just a thought.

Late morning anxiety - light levels? Maximum daylight giving her an uneasy feeling that she ought to be up and about and doing something?

Constipation worries happening in the early hours - is something waking her up at that time? - a chiming clock, somebody starting a car for an early commute, a local cockerel? If you can crack the problem of what's causing her to wake, which she attributes to needing to go but that isn't necessarily true, and at the same time instigate a more user-friendly toileting routine, that might be an answer.

Hope you have some success, broken nights are no joke.
