Now she lives with me and my family. Very angry , says some mean things. She and dad have lived in this house for 54 years! Dad lives with us as well...dad is more accepting of move. He knows the town house does not work for them anymore and he needs help caring for mom. I do understand the many losses my mom has and continues to face, I want to help her but she is so angry that she does not make sense and you (I) can not reason with her.

Babalou is right. Start with anxiety meds. Women rule their roost and do not abdicate the throne easily. Treat the the anxiety and keep her involved in activities with people her own age. You may have to add the antidepressant too.

LMK, does mom have dementia or some loss of cogniton as a result of the stroke? How very difficult! My mom and her hubby are moving from Mom's home of 52 years in two weeks. My mom has Alzheimer's and does not recogize this as her home any longer. So, where she is will not matter one way or the other to her. But, so terribly sad for me.

What about getting mom involved in some sort of activities or a day program. Get her out of the house to do different things she may or even may not enjoy. Is she able to get out and around ok? Keep her busy, maybe she is juust bored?
