Shes living with me and I dont know how, or if, I should keep trying to explain our living arrangement

You're living with your mom? And does she wonder why you're there? From what you've written she's asked you more than once why you're there?

There may not be an answer that will satisfy her and keep her from asking you over and over. "I wanted to visit with you, Mom." and then change the subject (redirection).

Thanks for the response. I moved her in with me in January, after trying a senior apartment complex in our area for 18 months. She complained about having to leave her house, and didnt understand why she couldnt live alone anymore. I just wanted to hear other opinons on an explaination, or if I should even try. Shes not safe at home, forgetfulness, got turned around and lost a couple of times in an area shes lived for 65 years, etc...

Jody, our mom is doing well in assisted living. We encouraged her to move after many falls, med errors and deepening dementia. She does insist she is perfectly capable of living on her own. Her MD told her she needed to stay in the ALF, but she conveniently forgets that he said that. We just remind her that she is in a safe place and she has many friends around her. We remind her how she loves the bus trips and activities. We remind her that at home she was "staring at the four walls". Your mom will continue to ask about her home. Whatever you do, DO NOT take her back, even for a drive by. Keep her oriented to where she IS.
