I believe she needs to see a medical professional and I don't have the money to help her. I'm just barely getting by with two kids in college and two in high school.

Good grief. Are you supporting your mother? I hope she has some income that she is contributing.

Let us sincerely hope that health care reform will make it possible for her to afford insurance, starting January 1.

Why hasn't she worked? Is she on disability? Could she be?

I don't understand why a woman in her fifties would stop work. Maybe if you can provide more details someone will have specific answers for you.

You are right to be concerned if she seems depressed. That can be a very serious health issue.
