My mom is on a Medicare Advantage plan. We really disliked having HMO and little choices when she was in ICU the past month. Now that she's in a nursing home rehabilitating, it may be several weeks before she can go home.
With open enrollment coming up, can we switch her plan to regular Medicare or maybe a PPO version of Blue Shield instead ? Or do they not allow changes while she's still recovering from her surgery 40 days ago.
My understanding ( from Medicare) is you always have Medicare but the supplement plans have requirements that you won't know if you will want to deal with until you ask them. I don't think it has anything to do with her being in rehab right now.
