Dear Anne,

Sorry to hear about your mom's situation. I know its not an easy decision. There is a lot to consider. Is the reason you want to move her to a nursing home related to costs? Caregiver burnout? Safety concerns about being at home?

My sister was always afraid for me. She was afraid that I would come home one day to find my dad had passed at home and I wouldn't be able to handle it. And it would be better if he was in a nursing home. But he ended up passing in the hospital.

In the end, I sometimes feel there is no right answers. Do what you think is best for your mom's care. Visit the nursing homes you are considering and maybe talk to some of the resident's family members for their experiences.
