My mom is in the hospital and needs to be transferred to Skilled care. I want her where my dad is but they do not have any beds. If she is placed in a different facility can she be moved when they have a bed.
I believe a patient can be changed from one skilled nursing home to another when a bed is available but your Mom would need to pay for the transport if she cannot get into a car and ride as a regular passenger... Medicare would not pay for the transport.
Is your Mom going into rehab after being in the hospital? Medicare will pay 20-21 days for that care.... then after that time, Medicare and the secondary insurance will pay for another 100 days but only if Mom is showing improvement in rehab. If not, then it become self pay or Medicaid.
