Mom (89) has moderate dementia. She starts rubbing her eyes constantly, sometimes licking her finger first. Any ideas?

Could be anything from dry eye to allergies. There must be some irritation and itching. I would seek the help of her MD in this. If dry eye there are now some meds to take by mouth given it is difficult for seniors to manage and even remember eye drops. Keep air moist if you are currently having to have heat on a lot.

She might have dry eyes. Try asking her doctor if she can have moisturizing eye drops administered.
