Find Care & Housing
Once your Mom needs full time care....even Medicaid will not pay for that outside of an institution. Full time care at home is more than Medicaid will pay for.

Plus..Medicaid expects that her assets will be exhausted before they will start to pay. So..living in her own home? I don't see any way for that to happen and have them pay.

Ramon, is your mom on Medicaid? Will she qualify if you apply for her?

I should amend that answer, since Medicare will pay for rehab if progress is being made, as well as for a short time if someone goes into skilled nursing in preparation for long-term care. Medicare won't pay for long-term maintenance of a person. That is where Medicaid comes if someone does not have enough money for long-term care.

No, Medicare will not pay for long-term care at all. Medicaid has a small amount of money to be used for caregivers. Other people may want to comment on that, since I don't have any experience when it comes to Medicaid "cash and counseling."
