I must consider a hospital bed with full rails. I need advice. ADW keeps getting up from bed at night and falling down.

Reporting these falls reminds me of the poem Finnigan to Flannigan: "Muster Flannigan: Off agin, on agin, .... --Finnigin."

Seems as soon as I am asleep my wife gets up and walks a few steps and crashes to the floor.

Her mind has been badly damaged by Alzheimer's.

I must consider a hospital bed with full rails. Question' Does Medicare cover just the bed frame or all bed, frame, mattress, rails ?

Medicare covers 80%, you pay 20%. They deliver whatever the MD wrote an order for- rails, half rails, no rails, foam mattress, air mattress etc.
I can guarantee she will try to get over the rails and break body parts.
One writer here put the box spring and mattress on the floor, so low that her mom needed to get UP to get out of bed, and could not do that. Hope that helps

Yes, I think Medicare will cover rental of a hospital bed. Though do you think that would keep her in bed? Or would she try to climb over the rails. A even worse fall. Have you thought of a bed alarm?

My Mom is up and down all night long. And because of something going on with either the brain thinking she has to go or a problem with the urinary tract, she is sometimes up three times in five minutes.
