Find Care & Housing
Are you referring to medical bills? I'm not familiar with your situation, but, from what I have observed, Medicare pays their part and then Medicaid pays a portion of the rest. If the provider accepts Medicaid, they have to accept whatever Medicaid pays them as full payment. So, the patient never gets a bill for medical charges.

However, medications are different from what I have observed. Medicare would cover the med cost, then Medicaid would chip in a portion, but then there might still be an amount that is due. That part would be paid by the Medication Supplemental Policy.( Silver Script is one. )That's normally quite small...like a couple of dollars or less. I found that a program called Extra Help will pay for the Medication Supplemental Policy depending on the income. So, with everything applied, there should be hardly any out of pocket. for meds and nothing out of pocket for medical treatment, office visits, hospital, physicians, etc. I'd double check to see what your loved one's situation is.

Their Medicaid CASEWORKER, should be answer all your questions about it.

Yes and No. If you go to an MD and he agrees to accept your Medicaid, fine, you are covered. BUT if you go to an MD who does NOT accept Medicaid, you pay the bill yourself. For example, you see a pain specialist who does not take your insurance or Medicaid. They will probably ask you to pay up front and in cash. Very common.
