Well. We got documents from Medicaid. The first set said Tom had long-term Medicaid.

The second said, well, no. Only until the end of the year, because he wasn't in the facility any more. He got sick again and is back in the hospital, and it looks as though he will be in skilled nursing for aquatic therapy for a newly discovered spinal issue. I need long-term care coverage -- that's what I applied for, for him -- so I can bring him home, since I have to have someone with him when I am work, and I was told that I could apply for Passport for help with that. No way can I pay for that myself. Now what do I do? 😢

I just wanted to let you know that the Case Manager set me up with the Passport folks. They will do an assessment on my husband and determine what level of support he could make use of.

Not sure if this is of any help to anyone outside Ohio, but thought I should share it anyway.

Thank you all for your helpful answers. The case manager we have been working with won't be back in the office until Monday, so I'm going to put this aside until then (easier said than done).

Having just read the Ohio Medicaid website, I'm very confused. They talk about in-home long term care, which I believe is different from long term FACILITY care.

That's what you want to clarify here, whether he is approved for facility care or in home care for the long term.

Having gone down the Medicaid road with my MIL I just want you to know that reading their avalanche of confusing and contradictory letters written in Government-speak can make one feel stupid -- but trust me, you're not. I agree with BarbBrooklyn to call the Medicaid offices to clarify

You need to call Medicaid to clarify.

In general, Long Term Care Medicaid is for in-facility care not care at home.

What state does he live in?
