Hello everyone.
My name is baby and my father currently is receiving Medicaid and home health care aide service. He doesn't have any money at all at this time, however in the end of 2020, he will receive some money from overseas because the Malaysia government is gonna take back his land property for compulsory sale.
I wonder can he still keep his Medicaid and home health care aide service through the state of Michigan ... Please help.
Thank you.

Contact Health and Human services - New York City and tell them your father receives Medicaid and you have a question.

Actually the OP should not contact NYC health and human services. That department would not know Michigan’s rules. The OP should contact Michigan’s Medicaid office.

You can ask his Medicaid caseworker what will happen. I have found them very helpful.

As I understand it, if a person on Medicaid goes over the asset limit, they
must pay for services out of their assets until the assets are low enough to qualify for Medicaid again. Your dad's only problem might be changing service providers if the current group won't accept self pay.

If your dad is on medicaid and has a home health aid then he has a caseworker. NY does have Medicaid case workers but they cannot help you with this because they deal with NY state rules. Your dad will have to report the income to Medicaid and he may or may not have to self-pay for his health care.

Michigan has very different state laws regarding Medicaid than other states. Please contact social services and ask this question and get an accurate answer. You can contact their offices online under the Dept of Health and Human Services for your county. Unless he receives a very small sum it is doubtful this will have no effect on his Medicaid.
