I am 92 and on Medicaid. If the property she buys costs less than the one she sells will Medicaid claim the difference between sold price and buy price. This in TX. Move from Dallas to far out. Thanks.

deerest: Well, I have to give you BIB SHOUT OUTS for being able to get on the internet or use a smartphone at 92 years of age!!!!!! I don't know ANYONE AT ALL who is able to do that! Wow, God bless you for taking care of your LO!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Deerest. I'm not able to answer Your Question since this is kind of a Legal Q, but having read Your post I have observed Your age 92, God Bless You as You are wonderful. You are looking out for Your Daughter as that's what Mothers do. What could be more natural and beautiful.

If you sell the home, the proceeds from the sale will continue to be excluded so long as they are reinvested in another excluded home within three months of the sale. Whatever is not re-invested will become countable assets for Medicaid eligibility purposes.

You need to see an elder law attorney that specializes in Medicaid planning. Texas regulations are different than many places. Has daughter been providing for your care? Is she disabled herself? If she has been caring for you there is a Medicaid waiver of estate recovery on transferring home ownership to a family member. If daughter is dsabled there is also a special needs trust, as Pam said. Your best bet is to see an attorney in Texas to help you.

I would encourage you to sit down with an attorney and establish a "Special Needs Trust" so your daughter does not lose her Medicaid benefits.. And remember, if you are on Medicaid, she may not get the house at all.
