LTC facility all of a sudden are saying Medicare has stopped paying. They say they need information from bank account to reinstate.

You must mean medicaid, not medicare. There is always annual redetermination paperwork and if it's not completed, medi-caid will stop. I'm a social worker in LTC, and it's the family's responsibility to get this done every year. The only time I do it is when there is zero family and zero assets (ie no bank account), and the patient lacks capacity to do it themselves, because social workers in LTC have no access to patient's banking info. It sounds like this might be your first year of redetermination. You can call the county worker to let them know you did not receive the paperwork and they should help you. You'll need to start researching all the banking and assets and get them in soon. If you are not too late, they will usually retro eligibility back, but if you wait too long, there will be a gap in coverage and that's never good.

Medicaid is paying for the huge portion of his NH bill that his SS isn’t covering. Medicaid has to be reapplied for every year. They send out forms to be completed asking for updated bank statements etc. Its a more streamlined process than the original big application, and it’s just to ensure there’s been no big change in finances since their original approval.
So it sounds like the LTC facility is trying to help you get his Medicaid reinstated by requesting this info? How did they get the info when he first moved to the NH? Where is his mail going? Where are all his records? Can you access his bank statements online? Who has POA?

Ditto to answer below. My MIL is on Medicaid in LTC and we have to reapply for her every year or every time she moves to a different place, even though her income never changes. When you get the notice from the county it is time-sensitive so they need the information returned within a deadline.

Maybe your LO was having their LTC paid for from their finances and now they have run out of money. If this is the case your LO can't be kicked out (unless the facility does not accept Medicaid residents). Then your LO may have to be moved to a facility that accepts Medicaid.

Do you mean Medicaid? If he’s been in LTC for the past year, Medicare definitely wasn’t paying the bill. If he’s on Medicaid, he should have a caseworker you can talk to about his eligibility.
