Hi folks, I'm looking for some suggestions. Dad, 93, is in LTC and had cataract surgery last month on one eye and has glaucoma in the other eye. Unfortunately word came down yesterday that he will not be able to visit the ophthalmologist for the foreseeable future due to the Covid lowdown which leaves him without a new perscription in his glasses and he is unable to watch tv, read his books or do his Wordsearch puzzles while sitting alone all day in his room. Audiobooks are an option although he is reliant on the staff to turn on the tech and he is always reluctant to ask for help which complicates things even moreso.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can keep him amused? I live 500 miles away and am visiting for Christmas but once I head home I'm very concerned about his depression setting in. Thanks in advance.

They read fiction and non fiction best sellers, magazines, newspapers, etc.
See if your city has a station like this. If not I think you can stream ours in New Orleans. WRBH, on Magazine St. NOLA.
Has dad tried out his distance vision (watching TV) WITHOUT his old glasses? My mother no longer needed distance vision correction once she had cataract surgery.
As for reading, can you send him some dollar-store resders in different strengths for him to try?
