At this time, bed and hubby are one. Nurse/medical staff not needed. Can drive a couple days straight thru with family help. Open to all suggestions. Thank you in advance for your help.
How many people does it take to lift him? How will you get him into/out of a vehicle? Can he sit up without propping? Can he sit up in a car? How do you plan to change his disposable briefs?
Hello. Thank you for your response. Apologies, I am looking for suggestions for companies that transport or help to transport bedridden patients. I would ask our local fire dept to transfer him. He can't sit in a chair, car. As his caregiver I would be with him, along with another person, to empty urinals and wipe his bottom. Thank you again.

A cross COUNTRY trip can take a week. If hubby is of sound mind and needing no medical help, what suggestions are you seeking? Stop to get food and let him eat, change his briefs, get something to drink, stretch your legs, switch drivers. Since you have family help, it sounds like you're all set.

I don't know what you mean by medical help not needed? Is your hubby a hospice patient? Will you be met on the other end of trip? How long is trip? How will you provide bed care for husband, even if he is in a rented van if you are alone?
I honestly cannot imagine, but if things are arranged at the other end and this is not more than a few days I guess the rental of a van is conceivably a possibility if there is someone even not medically trained to ride with him while you drive.

Probably the easiest thing would be to rent an RV. This way he would be comfortable and anyone going along to help would have room and they would be comfortable as well. An RV would be more comfortable than a van unless it is a "conversion van" and those are pretty much the same as an RV just smaller so you would have less room. And from what I understand Walmart will allow you to park RV overnight in their parking lots so that would save hotel expense as well.

I would check into an RV rental and search I think it is called angel transport, been a while, it is private RV owners that do medical transport.
