Nextdoor.com also a good place to look for a used bed. Ditto to what Grandma1954 said about used mattresses.

A lot of DME is covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance if there is a need. Have the doctor write an order for it.
If the person is Hospice eligible Hospice will provide a Hospital bed with an appropriate mattress for the condition and upgrade the mattress as the case needs.
There are often sites like Craig's List or your community "garage sale" site on FB BUT I would not take a mattress that has not been professionally cleaned and sanitized.
You can contact your local Senior Center and find out if there is a "Lending Closet" or Equipment Donation site in your community. But again I would not take a mattress that has been used and not properly cleaned. (Most places will accept a bed donation but not a mattress donation for this reason)
