333suzieq333, have you contacted your Area Agency on Aging yet? It looks like in your region it might be found thru centralcoastseniors.org. They are a good conduit for steering you toward other organizations that can help you.

In our county, the Area Agency on Aging directed me to a housing bureau for seniors, affiliated with our local university hospital system. They had lists of different housing options, including a list of very affordable senior apartment communities. However, in our town (like many others) those have a long waitlist, so you have to be prepared to wait, sometimes over a year or two.

Good luck with your search!
