Each state administers their Medicaid programs uniquely and can set a maximum value on exempt assets (like a car & a home). The asset limits for couples Medicaid where 1 remains a community spouse will be quite different than for an individual residing in a NH. You need to check with you states Medicaid program to find out what the value limit is for the type of Medicaid program.

Pls please realize that LTC Medicaid is designed for those determined to be "at need" for both medical services and financially needy. IF they are in a NH, going an buying a pricey new car doesnt make sense and could be viewed as an unallowed transfer of assets.
