It is legal to drink alcohol.
It is legal to be an alcoholic in your home.

If someone is drunk driving you can call the police.

I'd recommend AlAnon for you.

Some of the alcohol-free wines are pretty good. (I’m partial to Fre, which Target often has. The Chardonnay is yummy.)

Drinking alcohol is legal. So is having dementia and being an alcoholic.

From your profile:

"I am caring for my mother...who is 88 years old, living at home with alzheimer's / dementia, anxiety, depression, and stroke."

No mention of alcoholism.

What's the issue? What type of "legal options" do you think you need? Please provide more information.

Not sure who’s drinking too much, but anyone of adult age is pretty much free to drink themselves to death as long as they’re not responsible for a child. Even then, they still can, the child may just be taken away. If you’re living with someone who’s drinking excessively, you always have the option to leave. If you’re married, you can divorce and live your life in peace. No one deserves to live with a drunk. Since you didn’t provide any information on what exactly is going on, these are just guesses, let us know more and will be glad to be more specific

Since you don't give us much if anything to go on here, all I can say is to either call 911 to report abuse, file for divorce and or leave the situation and find somewhere else to live.

Well, there is no legal prohibition against alcoholic consumption for adults. The best you maybe able to do is to take away the money, checks or credit cards the person uses to buy it. However, this may be only practical if the person agrees to it or you have legal guardian ship over the person. Best to review this situation with a lawyer.
