I have a elderly parent who was injured in a fall on the ground of her Elder Care facility and is considering seeking compensation. Before advising her to go forward, I would like to know if the facility was at fault for the design and construction of landscape amenities on the property. I know that local construction codes and ordinances deal with the protection, health and safety of the general public, but I'm not aware of regulations that deal with Elderly Care Facilities. Also, there may be "Industry Standards" that go above and beyond building codes and zoning ordinances.

Find Care & Housing
I would think that this depends on where you live. Check with your city engineer's office. They should be able to direct you to the right people.
Take care,
