Hello Dear Friends, It has been a while since we last communicated. Life circumstances will sometimes allow time to lasp. My mother's Heating system has failed and need to be replaced. Does anyone know a Heating company in the Richmond Va area that work with Seniors on a tight tight budget?

It is a good thing you thought of replacing your heating system. It totally depends on what type of heating system you need. I personally did not try any of heating systems. But would recommend you about heating company Morris county NJ allweekheating. My friend recently replaced his home heating system from them who provide all services at a very reasonable price. I loved the concept of heating system repair and maintenance service which is very essential for house heating system to maintain its longevity.

Virginia has a HEAP program for heating crises. Call the mayor's office in Richmond and see if mom qualifies.

OntoaByrd, hope your Mom can find a reasonably priced service. I know Mom isn't going to want to hear this but now is the time to think about selling and downsizing into something more affordable. Like senior apartments.

If Mom can barely afford to fix the furnace, what's going to happen when the roof or plumbing needs repair? Food for thought. Hope everything works out.

Glad is right and that's a good suggestion to call the utility companies. They contract with heating companies to perform the work; you might be able to get a discount because of your mother's low income.

Also call your utility company. Sometimes they have plans to help those on low incomes.

Call the local Area Agency on Aging. They are a wealth of information.

Contact the Richmond senior center, or do an online search for "heating and plumbing companies, senior discounts".

I doubt if you'll be fortunate enough to find someone here who lives specifically in the Richmond, Virginia area - in VA, perhaps, but it's been my experience that tradesmen frequently don't take work outside a certain radius of their base area, so the VA residents may not be familiar with heating companies in the Richmond area.

There's also the old fashioned phone book; I've often found what I needed more quickly than online searching b/c of the way Google structures the return hits.
