she uses a walker help with house work & laundry some meal prep maybe personal hygiene?

This is not a caregiver employment website. If you only need ten hours a week for your mother, look on an actual caregiver website like care.com or even on Nextdoor in your area. Private-duty CNA's are always looking for work. Likely you will have to pay out-of-pocket for a private caregiver, but it's worth it if all you need is ten hours.

Some things you should know:

Most agencies and even some privately hired aids really want a minimum of 30 hrs p/wk.

Hiring someone directly can make you an employer in the eyes of your state's Dept of Revenue. Make sure to check this.

Try Care.com

If she just needs light housekeeping, meal prep and hygiene help then contact social services for her county and get an in-home assessment. They may be able to provide that type of assistance.

Geaton,

Most agencies will want as many hours as they can get from a client and an aide will want as many as they can get too. No homecare agancy or private aide is going to demand 30 hours a week from a client. I own a homecare agency. I also did private-duty caregiving work for a long time.

The OP does not need a lot of hours for her mother. She wants ten hours a week and that won't be hard to get if she hires privately. She will have to pay well though. No one is going to be available ten hours a week especially if they want to spread the hours out oveer the week if the family is paying minumum wage or just above. In such a case, they should expect to pay about 2/3's what an agency would charge per hour.
