day after day. She is in a nursing home. She is bed bound. They used to get her up daily until after lunch. She declined quite a bit a month ago after another fall. We thought she was going to die.

She has gotten better but is still weak and tired.

She is still mentally alert and can talk to us, etc. I keep trying to think of something we might be able to do to bring her some joy. She doesn't care to watch tv, nor read. Never had any hobbies.

Yes. That's what we have done in the past, when the weather was warmer, we would take her outside now and then. I tried showing her some landscape pictures taken in Alaska yesterday. Today my brother went to see her and they took her to the dining room, she is barely eating anything. But at least she was up for a while. She seems to get tired more quickly when up. He had them put her to bed after lunch. It's tuff. Sometimes I think the elderly that are not
mentally aware are better off. I really don't know.

I went through something similar with my mother, except she lost the ability to talk over time due to stroke damage. It was so hard. My mom could do nothing, but was mentally alert. When she was in a wheelchair I’d often take her outside, even if just for a little while, to get a break from the nursing home air and feel. I talked to her about anything I could think of, told her jokes, sometimes I just held her hand. Keeping the connection and showing you care is what matters most

I think music is enjoyable and nowdays.with You Tube, you can find the lyrics and sing songs together, ones your Mother likes, maybe Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley or songs from musicals,or any you can think of.
Reading an interesting article to your Mom or a chapter a day from a book you all like or show her pictures and ask questions about them or talk about recipes and tricks that might help you in the kitchen she knows.
An easy, fun card game called Uno is fun too and a backrub is always soothing, but I'm sure that even if you do nothing with her,it brings her great comfort to just have you beside her,
holding her hand and hugging her.
You are blessed to have each other and she's mighty lucky to have you.
Take care~

Have her doctors mentioned Hospice? Do you know if she has a diagnosis? Is there any reason that she can't get out of bed or sit up in bed or in a geri chair?

She is on Hospice now. But they don't do anything other than have a
nurse check her vitals a couple times a week and a CNA come bathe
her a couple times a week. She has a wheelchair, but doesn't eat any
longer, so they stopped taking her to the dining room and if they ask her if she wants to go she says no.
