Pretty crazy that I learned this news from reading the newspaper.
Currently my 67 yo sister with dementia is under observation, and in a room by herself because she has bacterial pneumonia. Other day they called me to let me know she’s being put on IV antibiotics.
This gives me some peace, and her room is right across from nurses station.
Honestly, still a bit stunned to read this news in the paper. This nursing home probably has more pressing things to do then call and inform me of the status, but again a little jarring.

"Bacterial pneumonia"? I would call and insist on a COVID-19 test for for your sister, immediately! And also regular updates or a contact person that you can call for updates. If you are her POA, you should have been contacted directly with the virus information rather than reading it in the newspaper!

Sending you a hug and a prayer for a good outcome here. Best of luck

I recently got out of hospital with bacterial pneumonia just like my sister has. Was in hospital 5 days getting antibiotic IV and i had a . Covid 19 test at hospital that came back negative. I think the pneumonia that covid 19 ppl get is viral pneumonia.
Yes, I’m her POA too.

We are getting daily updates via email from my Mom's assisted living. We really appreciate them. Could you check and see if there is some sort of email list you could be on? I agree that it would be awful to hear ab out this via the newspaper.
