FrequentFlyer is exactly correct and it might be better to get Medicaid for your parents to get care in a NH and you to get a job to save for your retirement.
MeChelle1971, the vast majority of grown children, who are caring for their elder parents, do not get paid.... unless that parent can pay from their own savings account.
Otherwise, you can see if your parent qualify for Medicaid [which is different from Medicare]. If your parents can qualify, don't be surprised that the income to you is low. One has to remember that Medicaid is funded by us taxpayers through taxes. Call your State Medicaid office.
I realize that a nursing home may be off the table, but the elders would get 3 shifts of care and Medicaid will help with the cost. That way the grown child can focus on a good paying job where they can save for their own retirement and care.
