Hello! You’re not alone. There are many in this forum who are caring for their husbands who have dementia.

My husband is older than yours, and I’m younger than you. I’ve been caring for him for 5 years since his stroke and then kidney failure happened and vascular dementia joined in. Our whole lives have changed.

I’m his full-time caregiver, but in the last few months we have made progress with home health aides coming in a few days a week. It’s allowed me to get out more, which is essential since we are not going out together much at all anymore. (He’s too fatigued). But, that’s life for now. Certainly not how we expected to spend these years!

Advice I heard once:
“Take benefit of five before five:
your youth before your old age,
your health before your sickness,
your wealth before your poverty,
your free-time before your preoccupation,
and your life before your death.”

...so true...
