Please contact Area Agency on Aging and request a needs assessment so the social workers can determine all the services your mother qualifies to receive. An elderly couple in my church began struggling paying for increased medications and incontinence products. AAA was able to qualify them for property tax reduction, heating and cooling assistance, and assistance paying for Medicare parts B and D based on their age and income. After getting a doctor's prescription for incontinence products, they also qualified for SNAP benefits. Although there was no direct help purchasing incontinence products, the expenditures reduced by the other programs more than covered the incontinence product costs. The couple also benefited by the bathing assistance and housekeeping hours AAA was able to setup.
