My family and I have been taking care of my Grandmother for sometime now. is there any financial assistance for my family to continue to take care of my Grandmother in her own home? She has been on and off of hospice. We have one person who works for a company, a family friend and two other family members help also. It is a lot of money for people to just sit because my Grandmother sleeps most of the day. And I get the wonderful task to get her up when I come home from a long hard day of working.

If she's on and off hospice, Medicare should be covering the hospice time and volunteers may give you some relief. When she goes off of hospice then that assistance ends.

If your grandmother is out of money and needs 24 hour care, your family should be working on getting her on Medicaid (unless she already is on it). It sounds as if she would qualify for nursing home care. If she mostly sleeps, she may not mind the move at all. Family and friends can only do so much when someone needs around the clock care. Please check into this since all of this takes time.
Good luck. It sounds as if you've contributed a lot.

If she was a widow of a wartime Vet, get VA Aid & Attendance. Go to VA.gov. Over 90 the applications are on a fast track. Over 100? Good grief, they should send a Senator to your door.

Contacting the VA is a good idea, but make sure you have all your ducks in a row. DD214 proof of service, honorable discharge proof, income (gross) ira's, accounts, marriage license, death certificate, just to name a few. It may take several months to get any VA documents once you ask, then it will take several months for them to respond. Expect to be denied the first time. SOP for VA. Been there done that. Good luck.

Thank you all for your help and advise. Taking care of my Grandma who is 100 has not been easy. We really would like to keep her in her own home. But she is using all of her money up, and now my father and his brother is starting to use their own savings Just to have someone sit with her a few days a week. Which is not good because my parents are almost in their 80's. and they are going to need every penny. Things have been getting worst lately when I come home from work I have to work with her, I work at a school so in the summer I can help out more. Just can't find a summer job because of my schedule with my Grandma. She is not a VA member She use to clean houses. when I first moved in I didn't like her much because I didn't know her but now I love her. And taking care of her is something I feel good doing. because if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here. Some say she is blessed to be here. I say I'm bless to know her.
