I'm my mother's caregiver and have been doing this for a while with no help. I  don't get paid, just worn out and stressed. In need of an overdue break. I'm just tired of being the only one doing this. I feel stuck. I just want my life back so I can get some rest and recharge my life. Is there any help that's available? Please let me know.

Yes, do call social services for your county to set up an assessment for your mom and your local area's Agency on Aging for respite resources. In the long-term you must consider whether you can keep doing what you are doing. If there are not enough funds to cover respite care, I'm not sure you can sustain this care plan for your mom (and your mom's funds should be paying for it, not yours). Please consider facility care for her if she qualifies. You can apply for Medicaid for her if she is a candidate for MC. Many of us on this forum have chosen this route. It does not mean we don't love our parents. But we can't burn ourselves down to a nub trying to provide care personally. I hope you can find respite soon and regain some energy to move forward. Wishing you peace in your heart.

Call your mom’s doctor. Ask to speak to a social worker to help you plan for your mom’s care.

I hope you will get proper rest soon.

Contact your local Area Agency on Aging and ask for your mom to have a needs assessment to see what services might be available for you and her. Ask about respite care for mom.
Also check out the Alzheimer’s association website and look for resources near you.
I hope you get rest soon.
