I'm trying to find the right term or word (if it exists) to describe all (or most of) the things that "go with" surgery, including, for example: transportation (to/from hospital/clinic/doctors' offices), logistics (all sorts), meds' management (calling back & forth both to pharmacies & doctors' offices, arranging for pick-up or delivery), physical & occupational therapy, meal delivery or preparation, laundry, housekeeping, etc. This list is not all-inclusive. I realize that the term "surgery" is rather vague and covers all kinds of surgery. But I just thought there might be a general term that is widely used in medical and patient circles to convey the "array" of items that go with surgery. Thank you.

the check sheets in a hospital record are preadmission, preop, surgical and procedure notes, post op instructions, and discharge/rehab/home and follow-up instructions. I've worked at two hospitals that gave incoming patients a notebook and departments/physicians place check sheets/instructions in the notebook as patients went thru the process.

I don't know of one, but there should be a word/phrase for all of this!
AlvaDeer's pre/post op care is the closest one.
Some non medical home care agencies provide help with these needs, for a fee.
Try your local Area on Aging office and ask for information and referral. These folks know local resources and often can give you suggestions.

I missed this the other day, Clairesmum, but thank you, and I think you're right: "pre/post op care" does seem like the closest all-inclusive term, although what I'm struggling with is a way to describe not just the medical aspects of surgery (which pre/post op care would cover) but all the other things, like, for example: transportation logistics, doing laundry, getting food, etc. And then there's just the "unpredictability" of everything -- you can't plan everything as that's what so daunting about surgery.

That I know of there is no one word term for any complicated thing in life, which is what surgery is, and either more or less dependent on the surgery and aftercare. Best thing you can do is find a specific surgery and then look up "aftercare for appendectomy. Even that will vary according to whether done laparoscopic or incisional. And vary by a LOT.
I hope you can tell us what exactly your need is for this one word. For instance, are you planning a surgery and would like to know what to expect as pre op and post op care for this surgery?'
Without knowing that I think, for instance, if an appendectomy is planned you would look up online "post op recovery care non-complicated surgical removal of appendix". Probably about best you can do.

In business it would be called "end to end" service delivery. But what's the context, what do you need to use this term for?
